Old Toad LogoWell, it’s almost a month later and it’s time to start thinking about getting together again for the monthly University of Chicago Club of Western New York meet-up. Last month several local alumni, ranging from classes in the 60s to those from more recent years, gathered at Cafe Cibon on Park Ave in the inaugural monthly meet-up. Although my wife Dianna let me face it alone, we had a great time meeting new people and beginning what I hope will be a long running tradition in the Rochester area.

On Tuesday, September 25th, we’re going to move the second monthly meeting down the street away (and around the corner) to hoist a pint or two at The Old Toad, Rochester’s authentic British pub. We’ll be there from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. If someone else shows up, then great! If not, Dianna and I will have an impromptu business meeting (or just a pint of ale). Located on Alexander, just South of East Avenue, the pub also has authentic British grub, so if you have a yen for some Bangers and Mash or Yorkshire Pudding, then this is the place.

If you’ll be dropping by, let us know by using the email link in the right panel to send me an email. I think that going forward this will be a movable feast, visiting other parts of Rochester and its surroundings to see if we can find pockets of alumni who are interested in finding each other for some stimulating conversation, networking, and (of course) beverages of the coffee or of the (as we used to say for “sherry” hours in the dorms) “C2H6O in a fruity or hoppy base” variety. Even if you can’t make this month, please feel free to send your suggestions of other locations and times that we can do this or just to let us know you’re out there so we can add you to our list.
